This morning began on a sad note because it was our last day in Erie. Since we usually stay for a full week in the summer, this visit felt very short and it was hard to leave. Saying goodbye to my Grandma was especially tough! I miss her and hate being so far away from her.
There was lots to do before we could leave the cottage so our chores took our minds off of leaving. Steve went to the laundromat to wash the sheets and towels, and he got the oil changed in the van (again!). The rest of the family worked to get the cottage cleaned up and ready for the next guests. Finally, we said sad goodbyes to Grandma and bid farewell to the lake. I always take a minute to think about what has changed since the last time I stood by the swing overlooking the water, and I like to ponder what will change between now and the next time I visit the cottage. Hopefully we can return soon!
Steve and I then picked up where we left off on SoSA and hit the road again. Next stop . . . Toronto! We crossed the border without a problem and got into the city by about 7:00pm. We then met up with four friends at the Blue Jays game. Grayson (a Harvard friend) and his girlfriend Mary came, as did our hosts for the weekend, Neil and Kersta (some of you may remember Neil as the feisty MC from our wedding). The game was fun and we had great seats though I must admit I spent most of the game talking instead of paying attention.

Kersta, Seve, Neil, Mary and Gray at the Jays game.

After the game, we played a few heated rounds of Taboo at Neil and Kersta’s place. With challenging words like “ballistic,” “house husband,” and “cockatoo,” nerves were frayed but we managed to keep it (mostly) civil. We then headed to a couple of different bars where Kersta amazed us with her basketball talents and Neil got a little out of hand:

Last but not least, we had some excellent late-night grub at a burger place.
It was great to catch up with everyone and we really appreciated Neil and Kersta’s hospitality. Thankfully we have another evening in Toronto tomorrow so I’m sure there will be more to post soon about our adventures north of the border.

I'll bet it was great fun to see Neil and Kersta and Grayson again. You certainly managed to pack a lot into your day (and night) with them. From the pics in the bar, it's clear that dear Neil hasn't changed at all - thank goodness.
Missed you today especially after saying goodbye in Erie...
Love,
Mum
